Welcome to the Sedgwick County Harvest Hub
Your Shop Kansas Farms (SKF) team is deeply committed to helping you make money. While we have a national reach through our Shop Kansas Farms website and Facebook group, we are creating even more impactful ways to help consumers find you and purchase your products. The latest initiative is the Sedgwick County Harvest Hub (SCHH). Since you are listed as a vendor on the Shop Kansas Farms website, you are automatically on the new Sedgwick County Harvest Hub website.
We understand that for direct-to-consumer sales to be prosperous, there needs to be a vibrant local supply chain of production, processing and distribution. The purpose of the Harvest Hub is to engage an entire community to create a stronger local economy by building a practical, physical food system of production, processing and distribution for locally grown foods.
We connect all three components as well as vendors like you with consumers using our website and Facebook group. If you are listed on our website, please feel free to advertise on our Sedgwick County Facebook group whenever you wish. Please note there are rules to follow, but they are easy and, once you read them, they’ll make perfect sense.
In addition, we learned through the last five years of Shop Kansas Farms, we need to approve posts before they make it the page to ensure we stay on topic and keep out spam or any kind of social-media nonsense.
We’ve listened to farms and businesses like yours and have heard you tell us you need help advertising. The Shop Kansas Farms team is here to help.
Currently, we have more than 170,000 followers on the SKF Facebook page and as we grow the SCHH page, we’ll be advertising you to those consumers, too.
We’d also like you to meet Renee Elpers, our new executive director. Renee is a fifth-generation farmer from Kingman County. She understands what it takes to grow, process and distribute food to consumers. In fact, her family was just recognized as a Kansas Farm Bureau Farm Family of the Year!
Both Renee and I (Rick McNary) will be contacting you soon to see what we can do to help you grow your business. With the increasing interest in people buying food that’s not just local (within 500 miles) but hyper-local (within 50 miles), the SCHH provides an online shopping mall that makes access even easier.
