The Sedgwick County Harvest Hub (SCHH) announces the addition of two brand ambassadors, Stephanie Eckroat and Shelley Rich. Their combined expertise in agriculture, community engagement and health and wellness will strengthen the SCHH’s mission to connect consumers with the farmers and ranchers who grow their food.
Eckroat joins the Harvest Hub with a strong background in agricultural leadership and community outreach. She currently serves as a field services manager for Kansas Farm Bureau and holds a degree in agriculture. Her career includes work as a representative for the Kansas Dairy Association and Commission, as well as experience in agricultural education, giving her a deep understanding of both growers and the rural communities they serve.
"Supporting local producers and helping communities stay connected to their food sources is something I care deeply about,” Eckroat says. “I’m thrilled to be part of the work the Sedgwick County Harvest Hub is doing to help strengthen the bridge between our farmers and the families they feed."
Rich brings a health-focused perspective to the Sedgwick County Harvest Hub team. With degrees in kinesiology and exercise science, she serves as the facilitator of the Health and Wellness Coalition of Wichita. Her work centers on collaborating with community partners to encourage physical activity, healthy eating and accessible wellness opportunities for all community members.
"Connecting people is my favorite thing to do,” Rich says. “When I can connect two people doing something amazing in our community, and both lives are enriched by the introduction, my heart is happy."
The addition of Eckroat and Rich reflects SCHH’s commitment to building strong relationships across Sedgwick County’s food and agriculture networks. Their leadership will help expand outreach, support local producers and increase community awareness of the Harvest Hub’s programs and resources.
The hub’s work is currently made possible thanks to a generous grant from the Kansas Health Foundation to Kansas Farm Bureau’s Foundation for Agriculture. The Sedgwick County Harvest Hub uses a model designed by Shop Kansas Farms to increase consumer awareness and access to local food by connecting and building all three components of a local food system: production, processing and distribution.
